// BRIEF CONTEXT
My journey with this project started in late 2020 after the Pulso Latino collective invited me to edit the special series, "Caminhos Latinos".
Although I was already an avid listener of many podcast genres back then, this marked my professional debut as an editor. To prepare, I took the initiative to volunteer as an editor for some regular episodes, aiming to familiarize myself with the challenges of a remote project and the sheer density of the content.
The brief from the team was straightforward: to refine material that, for all its richness, suffered from "academic habits" — such as prolixity and a sometimes sluggish rhythm — and make it more engaging for a non-academic audience.
This experience proved to be a significant learning curve. I gradually developed my sense of rhythm and pacing and, crucially, built the courage to make bold editorial decisions. I must admit, it was not an easy process. I often felt a sense of "imposter syndrome" as I sculpted the speech of highly qualified individuals. Nevertheless, the positive feedback from both the team and the listeners affirmed my contributions and gave me the confidence to carry on as the editor for the "Caminhos Latinos" series and Pulso Latino's regular episodes, from #33 to #54.
Even after I had left the project, I was invited back to conduct a workshop for new members who later joined the collective. In this session, I shared simple tips for achieving better audio recording regardless of the equipment used, basic concepts of a DAW, project organization in audio editing software, and some simple techniques I had developed to speed up the editing process.
// RELATED PROJECTS
As mentioned above, this project is directly related to the "Caminhos Latinos” series. Another direct related project is the "Tramas Democráticas". Following this debut experience as a podcast editor, I was also involved with the projects "Falando com Estranhos", "Confinadas na Paranóia”, and "Jornada do Whisky".
